Goldy McJohn: Keyboards (Steppenwolf)

Goldy McJohn (the keyboard player in the Classic Rock All-Stars) is the original keyboardist and founder member of Steppenwolf. Goldy originally trained as a classical pianist, he became on of the leading pioneers of the electronic organ in rock.

Goldu, in 1964, started out performing with local band The Mynah Birds which included none other than Neil Young and Bruce Palmer from Buffalo Springfield, and Rick James. Steppenwolf originally began life as The Sparrows in March 1965 and Goldy joined in September. They then went on to have record-breaking success between 1967-1974.

The huge screaming organ sound you can hear in the records of Steppenwolf, Deep Purple, Yes, Emerson, Lake and Palmer and The Spencer Davis Group was innovated by Goldy, specifically in the song ‘Born to Be Wild’.

The bands top-selling album (which included iconic track ‘Born to Be Wild’) hit #2 in the US charts and featured in cult film Easy Rider. The band went on to have more US Top Ten singles (with ‘Rock Me’ and Magic Carpet Ride’), mixing blues into their heavy rock riffs.

Albert Bouchard: Drums (Blue Oyster Cult)

Albert Bouchard is a drummer, guitar, and singer/songwriter who was originally a founding member of multi-million selling band Blue Öyster Cult- Albert was the driving force of the band in it’s first ten years. You can hear a lot of Albert’s songwriting in the band’s hits, and he has worked with numerous collaborators in his illustrious career.

Albert left Blue Öyster Cult in 1981 and began a popular solo career. His unique drumming is a beacon in the rock music world. Always entertaining, Albert’s rhythmic style is a treat to hear. A classic treat is to hear Albert’s vocals and drums on the monster hits he performed and recorded as part of Blue Öyster Cult; ‘Don’t Fear the Reaper’, ‘Godzilla’ and ‘I’m burning for you’.

Blue Öyster Cult in total have sold over 25 million albums across the globe!

Prescott Niles: Bass (The Knack)

The Knack’s debut album, ‘Get the Knack’, hit number on on the Billboard Album Chart for 5 weeks and sold 2 million copies in the US alone!
